The Art Of Being Different

September 30th, 2008

Written by Mr Javo

In the latest years, there has been an impressive increment of blogs on the web. Every day a new blog is born besides many others of the same niche, using free or self-hosted domains. This make me think about the overpopulation, we can see it around the World and nowadays on Internet, wherever we look it seems to be already taken or developed by someone else, no matter the niche you look for. So if every niche is supposedly supersaturated, how is it possible that every day more and more blogs emerge on the Internet? All those blogs are providing different information or perhaps duplicated content? how can they be different when there are hundred of blogs of the same nature?

be different

To be different in a Sea of blogs could be a difficult task. Many people out there think that it’s easy to create a blog, to get traffic and to earn profits when in reality it’s not, normally this task requires a lot of effort and dedication, and even more when you have hundred of blogs of the same niche around yours competing to be the best.

How to be distinguished?

So what do you need to do, to be recognized among all the other blogs? Well, first of all, you need to be yourself. Trying to copy another blogger’s style could be one of the biggest mistakes ever, is very stupid to want to be another person! Express yourself with your own style and everything should go well. Remember that people like to read different personalities, what sense would have to read 3 copies of Tyler Cruz when you could read the original one?

Many people often confuse the act of copying. Many bloggers share their experiences or techniques to be a better blogger, and “copying” those tips is not bad. Nevertheless when you apply those read tips, you are not copying, you are following an idea. This is very interesting because in the world of blogging, there are many things that “simply work” and probably if you don’t apply them you could get lost. Don’t be afraid to follow those successful ideas that you can find on Internet, but because it has worked for someone else does not mean that it will work for you too.

Try to keep away from the cattle and try different things. You can personalize the other blogger’s tendencies in order to get different results, sometimes it’s good to try different and original things in the blogging world. In the end, that original idea can be a success or a total failure, and unless you are not investing money on that idea you will have nothing to lose. There is not a magic equation which you can determinate the level of success of something, it’s all about trial and error!.

The only thing you need to know is to express your thoughts in each article you write, no matter how do you write it, the important thing is the message and the idea behind it. If the message that you are transmitting is sufficiently good, you won’t need to care about traffic, seo or social networking because the readers will care about it, doing everything for you. So be sure to prepare all your ideas before writing an article in order to start being unique and different among other bloggers.

true. by attempting to copy someone else, you aren’t able to leverage your own unique background or backstory, and a blog like that for me, tends to fade into the background noise.

Very well put MJ. Your own persona wins over copying someone else’s. :)

I would say that a big part of the identity is a unique design that reflects your content and personality
(Note to self: make a unique design…)

When you are starting in the world of blogging, you are tempted to copy others, which is understandable since you are still trying to learn things. But as you grow older in blogging, you should start “customizing” your blogging personnality to your own example. It is necessary to stand out and last.

Nowadays you almost need to START customized. There are way to many blogs with the same info already..it will be hard to grow a year or more later.

Another way to be unique and different also comes from your blog. Is your blog one of hundreds that you see in the blogosphere. If yes perhaps its time to change to a more unique one. Perhaps a premium or custom made blog could give you a unique image.
