Hi everyone, since 1 hour ago I have the WordPress manager openned, but I just couldn’t start my post before… I wasted some time reading some great feeds, news, articles and looking stupid videos on youtube, as the following one:

That was funny huh? Well, what’s this post about? This could be named an experiment, to see if it’s possible to create any kind of reactions by writing something real quick, and without sense at all. Some minutes ago, I had not idea about what was I writing, but now I find a little path among this randomness.

What should you make in order to get reactions?

With the passing of time, I have seen viral things being spread through the web, and they didn’t have sense at all. So I was thinking about it, and I have listed some things that I think you can generate some buzz from:

• Craziness: The most of the viral videos have a little of craziness, shocking you the first time you see it. That’s why they are viral, because many people get shocked and then, when the video ends, they decided to share it with friends, just because they cannot believe it!.
• Professionalism: When something is very very impressive because of its quality, it will generate buzz without any doubt. This factor cannot be combined with the last one, perhaps you can add a bit of amusement in order to make it more fun and enjoyable.
• Charisma: You can suck at what you are doing, but if you have the gift to manipulate and convince people about what you are saying, certainly you will impact them.

Also, by doing something really terrible/bored you can attract the people attention, but this is a harder task.

Now, let’s take this 3 elements and let’s put them together focused in a blog. Blogs depend of the personality of the blogger, but there is something that can affect this behavior, and this thing is the niche. You cannot act like a crazy if you are blogging about something important, something related with your business for example… But instead, if you are blogging about your life, you can do it so crazy as you want.

There is a balance?

Of course! You can blog about something relatively serious but giving it a touch of your personality, being funny sometimes… But watch out! You need to measure this kind of behaviors because not everybody likes them. May be, you can start losing readers because of that.

Moral

Every story has a moral, and this post also has one. You won’t always know what will cause reactions on your readers. What many bloggers do is to stick to things/methods that have worked for them before. That’s a good idea, but also could be a bad one. What I recommend is to experiment! You can’t know if something will work if you don’t try it.

Don’t be afraid of trying new things, perhaps you discover a non wise potential that tapeworms . Wow! I got over 500 words in this real quick post which I wrote it in less than 30 minutes, what do you think about it?

Nowadays, almost every time you read a blog article you can find links pointing to other articles of the same blog. Internal linking is one of the most common strategies used by bloggers in their posts due to several reasons, which I’m going to explain in this post in order to let you know the secret behind this behavior.

Have you asked to yourself what happens with your old posts? And when I say “old” I want to refer to the posts you have published months ago… Well, let’s say that your visitors use to share your posts through social media networks, getting that post a good exposure and being a boom for some days. A week after, that post won’t be read with the same frequency which people read it in its first days with. Of course, if you do a good SEO you will attract visitors to that post through search engines, but it won’t be the same.

So there are other strategy which you can use in order to enhance the traffic of your posts, and that strategy is called Internal Linking.

The Advantages

What do you win by linking past posts? A lot! and I’m going to explain you why. If someone visits your blog for first time, you would like to make it subscribe to your blog right? Many times happens that people visit your blog and if they don’t like the first content they read, they just leave without reading anymore. If you link other related articles inside your posts, people will click all those links and this way, they will read more content of your blog.

Tip: is very important to use the attribute target=”_blank” in order to force that links to open in a new tab/window of the browser.

The problem is when you link many posts inside other ones, because the user will click all of them and then they won’t know what to read first. Sometimes that happens to me, I end with 4 or 5 articles of the same blog opened in my firefox and it could be hard to find a chronological order.

So once you learned that, let’s review the main advantages of internal linking:

• Promote your other posts.
• Make your visitors stick to your blog.
• Increase the possibility of getting new subscribers.
• Increase the number of backlinks pointing to your blog.
• Increase your ranks (pagerank, alexa…) because of the backlinks.

The Disadvantages

I think there are no disadvantages on this topic. Well yes, it is very important to remember that you should not bombard the users with plenty of internal links in your posts. As I said before, they could get bored or they couldn’t find an order among the posts you are linking, and this could end with a confused user closing all those posts that you linked. This way, you could get the opposite effect that you wanted to get which was the catch of a new subscriber…

Conclusion

Certainly linking other own articles in your posts can be a good idea to make your readers stick to your blog. Something you need to remember is to don’t bother them with several links, I suggest you to link 1 may be 2 posts and not more than that. Hello bloggers, today I want to share with you a thought that I have stuck in my mind since some days ago. This idea involves the most of bloggers, all those who are not in the “TOP A” list of bloggers (don’t worry, I’m in that list too buddies ).

All of us, write some posts a week with passion and dedication, giving our best and waiting impatiently to read the comments and reactions of our readers. But sometimes, though we have a good amount of regular readers, we want to have more and more, and be one of those blogs that thousands of people read daily.

There are many things which can improve considerably your blog, helping you to be one of the TOP A bloggers. I’m going to mention a couple of factors that could improve your blog (just mention ok? I can write about them if you want) :

• Publishing full RSS Feeds
• Writing with consistence
• Replying your comments
• Promoting contests
• Publishing original content
• Giving away free stuff
• Getting interviewed

The possibilities are infinites. But though you try to do everything you read in other blogs, sometimes all those tips don’t work for you. So why are you reading this post? Because like you, I had tried some tips that didn’t worked for me. Now, I’m going to tell you a series of tips which I consider important, to take your blog to another higher level:

• Take care of your Blog’s Design: Although many people don’t care about their blog’s apparency, it’s very important to have a good design. The more attractive your blog’s design, the more readers you will catch. This is a logical thing, if your blog has a poor presentation, don’t expect so much about it. Try to keep your widgets aligned, this way your sidebar will look ordered.
• Take care of your Tagline: You need to have a good tagline, or a simple message that you can place in your header. This message needs to be short, but it must be consistent to give to the new people who come to your blog, a hint of what’s your blog about and what they will find… You got it .
• Upgrade your Blog: Is nice to keep upgrading constantly your blog. Upgrading is different than updating watch out! I’m not talking about posting frequently, I’m talking about providing new features in your blog. Though it can be hard, it can boost your audience and subscribers. Things like new categories, polls, widgets or even redesigning your blog, are perfect to take your blog to a higher level.
• Give away a product for free: Everybody loves to get things for free. By giving away an eBook or another kind of document, you can highly improve your traffic and readership of your blog. In those cases, remember to leave a link back to your blog!.
• Buy advertising: By buying advertising, you will get more exposure in the blogosphere. You can advertise in other blogs or in social networks, like StumbleUpon or Facebook. You can advertise wherever you want, there are many places to do it. The thing is that you need to advertise a Landing Page, something that I will be writing about in the next days (stay tuned alert).

At the end of this month, I will finish my semester. So when I do it, I’m going to invest the most of my time here , and there is the things I have planned to my blog:

• Add a Newsletter, that you will receive every weekend with the hottest news.

Here are some tips about how to get a good discussion on your blog, producing several comments on each post. The post is something unique, I have posts with 30 comments and others with just 3, and this variations are due to the information which you wrote in the post.

I can know when a post will get several comments depending to the type of post which it is. I classify the posts in two types, actives or passives. Basically if a post is active, it will have several comments. Instead if it is passive, it will have few comments. Now you know when you will have a good discussion on your post. Let’s check the characteristics of each type of post:

• Active Post: An active post is these which lend itself to discussion, a post which express only the point of view of the blogger. When you share your ideas with your audience, exist the possibility that someone has a different idea beside yours. This is called diversity, and it is the major characteristic of the human being. If you write a post about what do you think about a service or just why do you think that my blog is good, you will get several comments of people critiquing your post, is how it works. Try in the most of possible to write posts of this nature, this way you will light a fire under each post .
• Passive Post: A passive post is these which simply do not cause to discuss, the reasons could be many. Generally in this type of post, you don’t share your ideas or something related to your blog’s niche, and this is why the people don’t feel some interest and don’t comment on the post. Old news and off topic posts are example of this type of posts.

Once you know the basics about the active and passive posts, you need to understand that you will not get comments if you don’t promote your posts. Being active or passive, you may submit your post to the social networks, this will attract more visitors to your blog and you will get a big burning fire on it, getting a good discussion on the submitted post.

The goal of each blogger is to get several comments on each post, but this is not possible every time. Try in the most of possible to write active posts and cross your fingers to get people commenting on it .

Hello readers, this morning I was looking for a blog about making money online to make a couple of consults about some affiliate programs, but I couldn’t find the blog through my bookmarks, I must missed it when I formated my pc the last year. Although I tried to remember the title/url of the blog, I couldn’t and finally I ended searching on Google and finding the information I wanted but not in the respective blog. This fact inspired me to write this post about the commons which makes you forget a blog.

The following is a list of ten things that make you forget a blog. Because although I searched on Google for that blog, even the keywords of making money online could not help me to find it with million of results. Try to avoid the ones listed bellow:

1. The URL too long or too hard to remember: this is the principally because people forget about blogs. When I was thinking on a domain name for this blog, I discarded a list of about 20 URLs, leaving about 8 of them. If your blog has a *hard to remember* URL, your readers could start to leave it. The best is to choose a short URL or if it is long, it should be easy to remember.
2. A Bad title: this point relates to the first. The normal is to set the title according to your blog’s URL but it may not strictly be the same. If the title of your blog is too long, you can have in the URL an abbreviation. However, the title is something important, you may select it relating to your brand or something that anyone read it on Internet and recognize it easily.
3. A Bad logo: this is part of your brand. When you are going to create a blog, you should have plus the url and title, a logo for your blog. You may have a logo related to your title or niche. Many people uses as logo a picture or animated caricature of themselves, others use the initials of their blog’s name. It is up to you, but you should have something that anyone recognize it on social networks or ads.
4. Poor or repeated content: if your blog has poor quality posts with many grammar errors of simply bad content, your blog will be forbidden. It is important to read your post several and adjust anything which you consider neccesary. Also, if you steal or copy the content of other blogs, your readers will start to leave because they could read the same content in other blogs, may be best than yours. I don’t want to say with this that you must post 1000% original content, if you search on google “Reasons Why I Forget Your Blog” may be you will find several results, thousand or probably millions. I mean that you need to write your own content to your way.
5. You neglect to post: with this I want to say that if you don’t update your blog’s content often, the people who follows you regularly will start to leave your blog. Besides of keeping your blog updated, It is important to pay attention to your readers and reply to their mails or comments. It is better to have few faithful readers to have many occasional readers.
6. 1000 bloggers or more use your theme: it is better to have an own theme that one which everybody has over the web. With this you will not lose all your readers, but it’s something that helps to lose a handful of them. Your theme is like your personality, your presentation. If thousand of bloggers has your theme, it will be bored to your visitors if they’ve look that theme before.
7. A Bad navigation: may be you have paid for your theme, but if it has a bad navigation it will be hard to surf. A simple design with everything easy to find is the best way to avoid this cause. An archive or sitemap it is perfect to help to your readers to find the content on your blog.
8. Longtime to load: try to not overload your blog with many content. I have seen blogs, which shows like 10 posts a page, and this is bad, if your blog has many content, scripts or banners it could take many time to load, more than usual. Try to control that.
9. Your blog is boring: I once wrote a post about this point, about which makes your blog boring. Avoiding scrolling on your blog and having your posts clear of banner’s tons will help to make your blog more fun for reading.
10. Nothing special, your web isn’t unique: there is a possibility that your blog is not bad, but neither is surprising. You should try to have something different to other bloggers: attitude, humor, style… Something particular that distinguishes you from the masses. This is up to you, you may find the way to be the unique possible.

And cut! there are your 10 reasons why I could forget your blog. Try to not make these mistakes or if you did use one of them then try in the most possible way to correct it. Remember, never is not too late to correct the mistakes made on the past .

Hey bloggers, yesterday I was with some friends and one of them started to ask me about my blog. I explained him what I do in my blog, giving to him a little idea about this big world called blogosphere. He surprised very much about what I do here , asking me who read my blog and how can I measure the success of it. That is a very good question… There are many factors that help you to measure your blog’s success giving you the hint if it’s good or bad.

This post attempts to provide how you can measure your blog’s success taking advantage of its statistics combined with its reader’s interaction.

How many people are reading your content?

Something very important in this career, is to know how many people are reading your content, and take advantages of these numbers. Using webmaster analyzers you can know this kind of statistics, knowing the exactly amount of people who visit your site daily. A good way to increase this number is using social media networks, those normally gives tons of traffic.

Amount of subscribers

This is may be the most obvious factor. Many people think that you can measure a blog’s success just looking its subscriber’s counter but really, it’s more than that. It’s truth that you can get an idea about how successful a blog is just seeing the amount of subscribers, but you can assure nothing. I going to give you a example, what about a blog with 3 years of age and only 1000 subscribers ? if you don’t know the blog, seeing 1000 readers you can think that it’s awesome but may be it’s not really. But if you take a look on Jonh Cow for example, when his blog has about 5 months of age, it had about 700 subscribers and now it has thousand of subscribers.

Moral: The number of subscribers is important, but you need to consider the time in which you obtained your subscribers.

Comments per post

The next important factor is the number of comments on your blog. The number of comments per post gives you a idea about the quality of your blog, if it’s good it will create a atmosphere of discussion between you and your visitors. Answering your reader’s questions and paying attention to their critiques you will improve you relation with them, creating in your blog a nice place to stay.

Your achievements in social networks

All the achievements you obtain in the social networks it’s very related to your blog’s success. Using this kind of networks ( digg, stumbleupon, blogcatalog …. ) you will start to make contact with other bloggers, you will start to attract their attention and they will start to visit your blog over and over again looking for new content… Doing a good role in all those social networks, you will promote your blog, make friends and gain new readers, all at the same time, definitively exploding your traffic.

Backlinks

The backlinks or links which point back to your blog are a good indicative of how popular is your blog. While more backlinks you have more traffic you will get, and traffic on the blogosphere is synonymous of success . You can get backlinks by commenting on blogs with dofollow, discussing in communities or forums, exchanging links with other bloggers for blogrolling etc etc… You can learn more about how to get backlinks in this post.

To finish, you may know that first that you can measure a success, you need to set goals. Don’t public them if you don’t want, but you need to set goals weekly or monthly. This way you will always have a goal to reach, applying effort and dedication every time to reach them.

You should check all this aspects and ask you questions like: how many people are reading my blog? I’m being amiable with them? I’m participating sufficiently in social communities?…answering all those kind of questions you can determinate if you are getting success with your blog or not, and if you think that you need to focus in a determinate task, go ahead, set your priorities and don’t worry about that, everybody neglects something in the life.
