Hi guys, I hope you enjoyed this Halloween and had fun with your costumes… I don’t know you, but I have noticed that many companies are holding contests this month! I have received tons of emails from Pepperjam’s advertisers which in my opinion, they have really great offers. The most of them are giving away ipods, gif cards and other cool stuff for those who make 30 leads on November… All of them have different meetings, so you should read the rules of them separately. Honestly I don’t have time right now to attack those offers and I hope you do, so I invite you to join to Pepperjam Network and take advantage of these contests!
As usual, I collected the very best posts that I found this week, so let’s review them:
- The Blog Flipping Toolbox (Bookmark This!) by Bryan on Site Flip U.
- The Secret to Landing Clients Nearly 100% of the Time by Jaime on Freelance Switch.
- The Top 10 Mistakes People Make When Starting A Business by Evan on YoungEntrepreneur.
- Internet Marketing: How to Find Affordable Outlets to Advertise In/On by Yuwanda on BloggingTips.
- 50 Ways Your Web Site Is Discouraging Conversions — and How to Fix It by Inside CRM Editors on Inside CRM.
- The Difference Between Marketing, PR, Advertising, and Personal Branding by Neil on Quick Sprout.
- Why the Continuity Model Makes Sense For Your Internet Business by Gyutae on WinningTheWeb.
In other news, I want to let you know that my Entrecard Account was deleted the past thursday. Let’s check the email they sent me:
Your account 'Mr Javo dot Com' on entrecard.com has been deleted. The administrator gave the following reason: rule 5, http://entrecard.com/docs/doku.php?id=blog_quality_standards Please contact deleted@entrecard.com if you have any questions regarding this action.
Now, let’s check the main rules of Entrecard:
-
No nudity: Entrecard, and its members blogs, are generally family friendly. Blogs with images containing nudity are not permitted. This includes nudity in advertisements.
-
English only: Until we develop the infrastructure necessary to facilitate non-English language blogs, English is the only language allowed in Entrecard.
-
Minimum 5 posts: Blogs with no posts, or less than 5 quality posts written within the last 3 months, will be removed.
-
Content must be original: Reproduced content does not provide the specific qualities we are looking for in the Entrecard network. This includes both sites that use legitimate reprintable content such as “free articles”, abstracts and public domain content as well as illegitimate, illegal content such as stolen content or scraped feeds. Duplicate content, such as posts that appear on two or more blogs belonging to the same person is also unacceptable.
-
No full-screen ads or popups: Blogs that include full-screen ads or popups will be removed. This includes any popup window that appears when the site has finished loading or when clicking to view an article. It is OK for links to display a popup window if the user clicks a link, e.g. FeedBurner email subscription, but popup ads or forceful messages asking people to subscribe without clicking anything are intrusive and therefore not allowed.
-
No illegal file downloads: Blogs that link to illegally shared files, such as music, movies or software, will be removed. By “illegal” we mean content that you do not have the right to distribute. Linking to free, legal music and software is permitted.
-
Entrecard widget must be present: Including the widget on your site is a requirement if you wish to participate in Entrecard.
-
No redirects: Sites that use a redirect (such as tinyurl links) as the URL on their account will be deleted.
-
No duplicate accounts: If you have more than one account for the same blog, the duplicate account will be deleted.
-
URLs must be valid: Sites with URLs that do not work or are wrongly typed will be deleted.
-
No autoplaying audio: This includes music that plays automatically when you visit the page, or short audio ads that come up unannounced.
-
Content must be recent: Sites that have not been updated in 3 months will be removed.
This week I added a popup referred to my newsletter on Mr Javo dot Com. This popup will show up just ONCE per visitor, so you don’t have to worry about. However that’s an experiment, so may be I will remove it in the next weeks.
Rewarding my Top Commentator
Once again, this month my top commentator was Dennis Edell. Man, I know you love my blog and I want to thank you so much for leaving these great comments here, but let the others win!! So as I said in the newsletter, you cannot be rewarded again until after 2 months since your last award. So let’s check who the winner is…
It seems like there are 2 winners this month! To be fair, I will give to both kouji and Ben Pei, a text link for a month on my blog! So guys, use the contact form to send me the details of your submission: title, url and alt text for your link.
Thanks for reading me and see you the next week!

Hey! my name is Javier but you can call me Javo, everybody does.
Hi Javo hope you had a fun Halloween, kids here in PR where all dressed up in disguises asking for candy. Some of my friend put on their disguises but where asking for beer instead. About entrecard I would not worry to much, if you have to decide between growing your reader base and and Entrecard traffic choose readers. Entrecard is fun but with the new rules its not as rewarding as it was not to mention the Entrecard shop dropped a lot of the stuff he used to offer. And the newsletter pop up is performing very good for a lot of people, test for some time to see how it performs on Mr Javo. Keep up the good work! -Archie Pennies (Luis Narvaez)

LOL…I’m even closer. If only there are 3 winners…..;)
I don’t care about the entrecard thing, it was increasing my bouncing rate…
That’s what I think too. Most people who came from Entrecard only visited to drop their card anyway. It was all just about earning credits.

Great round up for this week. The article from Bryan on blog flipping is great resource. I never like entrecard because most of the traffic dropped by your site to earn credits only. Conversion rate from EC to become regular readers are pretty low I would say.

D’oh! OK that’s it, I’m on strike! (Hmm, then I guess I shouldn’t be leaving this comment.)
Awesome round up; I think this is the first time where I have only read 1 or 2 so far! Nice.
I believe it was Keith Goodrum who also got the boot for the popup
What are you using for the popup?

All great link loving here Mr Javo!
By the way, Entrecard has also deleted my site from their system. Whatever. I can care less.

I haven’t registered with entrecard. I think now I should do so. By the way, I did not spend enough time in your blog last month. I think I should now because you have such good content and good link love…
Recently I have come across many people whose Entrecard accounts are banned….. But everything was looking 5ne.. No idea what the reason is..

It will drive more visitors to your website but also it will increase the bouncing rate of it… Many people use this service just for dropping a card and get a “credit”, they don’t care about the content of your site…
I think i ll myself try your entrecard and see if works. I hope it does. Looking at the comments, i definitely think so
Right from the jump I’ce never used it for traffic; any of that is just a bonus.
It’s still remains as one of my best networking/blog-friend finder available for free.
