Moving FeedBurner Feeds To Your Google Account – Having Problems?

January 20th, 2009

Written by Mr Javo

Two days ago, I was checking my feedburner stats when I saw a notification, offering me to move my feeds to my Google Account. As you may know, Google bought Feedburner on January of the last year, and since then they have been improving the platform…

In order to have all my accounts under control, Google offered me to move my feeds from feedburner.com to feedburner.google.com, and this way I could have everything integrated with my Google account.

Moving My Feeds

I accepted the invitation and I moved my feeds. The proccess was quite fast and I got my feeds into my Google account in 5~10 minutes… So what’s the big problem? Suddenly, my counter dropped from 460 to 350 – this means that I lost more than 100 subscribers in a single day, which is absurd.

If you are a feedburner user, you should have experimented these single day-drops in your counter with certain periodicity, it’s like a bug which is fixed the next day without problems, it’s kinda normal…

This time is different. Instead 1 day-drop, I have 2 days (and may be more) with a wrong counter… Are you experimenting the same issue or is just me? Is it related with the migration or not?

I’m very wondered about it, if you know anything about it I would like you to let me know…

I am pretty sure I am having the same problem and it’s very frustrating. Hopefully the new service on Google is worth all the hassle.

Man, without moving to Google Proxy itself I lost 80 off my 210 feed subscribers since last three days and no news about them

I am hesitating to move to Google proxy though inevitable. The problem is that my Google AdSense a/c and Feedburner are in two different Google a/c :(

I experienced the same problem on my blog. But I am glad my stats were back to normal after three days. Actually now, I have 20% new subscribers already. What I like most about the new setup is that I can now access all my Google tools (Gmail, Feedburner, Adsense etc) in one account.

I also lost 100 feedburner subscribers in a day and it has been that way for a couple of days now. I am glad that I am not the only one that this happen to.

Donny – you are lucky to have only lost 100. My count has dropped from 914 to 214… I have no idea what is going on, but I hope it all goes back to normal soon!

I haven’t switched yet, but I did read Google’s take on it and they said the switch would likely result in the loss of some subscribers. Some would return. Others were gone because it was a more accurate reading of the feed subscribers.

Exactly, they do warn that the new numbers would be lower thanks to their more accurate readings. The same was true when we moved to Google Analytics, the numbers came in lower, but they are probably closer to the real thing.

I’m holding off on moving until next month. :)

Well may be it’s more accurate, that could be a good reason. I didn’t read that warning lol, but I don’t care so much about it…

Then why did they bother us by letting us move them manually?

You’d have to ask them that one lol.

I moved mine to avoid the mass rush. Mass rush = more screw-ups.

Don’t understand how it can vary. You either have a certain number of subscribers or you don’t.

ok, here’s the thing, everything went to normal but now I can’t login to my account. do you experience this too?

Everytime I try to login to feedburner, it redirects me to feedburner.google.com, while I don’t have a google account for this particular domain, I click the button “claim your feed”. The google will redirect me to feedburner login page, but the problem is … it keeps telling me username or password is incorrect. I’m really sure the username and password are correct, if they were not, it would give error message at the first place instead of redirects me to feedburner.google.com

Any idea what’s going on here? Thanks

Hi,

I haven’t had problems with this but try to log in feedburner.google.com with your login and password of feedburner.com.

If you cannot access, try to recover your login info through the “forgot your password” option with both sites of feedburner. If the problem persists, contact google directly.

I hope you can solve your problem mate.
