Hello people, it has been a long time since I wrote my last post, the college was consuming me… So how are you guys? While I was offline, I kept reading your comments and reading other people’s blogs, so I hope you didn’t feel abandoned
. Also I was exploring other kind of businesses which I will be talking about soon.
My incomes dropped… but not so much
So let’s talk about my incomes! I noted that many people take a look at my reports. So this months of recession people started cutting their expenses – as you know – and that included banners and text links from my blog, which means that my incomes became lower.
I kept earning money from banner subscriptions, but my ppc campaigns dropped like %50! So I needed to find other ways to make money to avoid all those cuts.
Someone asked me about my earnings of Text Links Ads, and I’m glad you asked because I think I’m gonna quit. I was earning like $25 with TLA, but Google was (and still doing) digging my grave… In the latest months my blog dropped from PR2 (which was low enough) to 1, and then to a big zero. So I think I’m gonna quit that and focus more on sales of banners…
What I have been doing
Aside my private sales, I also play with affiliate marketing and web design. Recently I sold a blog (www.bigghealth.com if you are interested on my work) and that gave me a boost on my incomes, fortunately. Also I have been dealing with pay per lead campaigns, also known as CPA campaigns (cost per action).
I want to make a couple of articles related with alternatives besides Google Adwords for advertising, i.e. facebook ads, MSN & Yahoo advertising and others…
I want to ask you a favor
Yes, you heard it. If you have any experience with advertising and PPC, I would like to know it. So you can drop me a comment here or send me an email.
PS: Especially I’m looking for information about Facebook Ads

Hey! my name is Javier but you can call me Javo, everybody does.

I am new to your blog but by no means new to the world of blogs and blog marketing. I have information on PPC with facebook, myspace, google, and a few other PPC advertising mediums. What specifically are you wanting to know about?
specifically about facebook.. For example, how much did you try to get your ads approved and that kind of things… If you can share your experience with myspace adds that would be nice too…
Myspace was by far the most profitable for me. The ads vary on cost depending on the add you upload and where you want it displayed. My recommendation for myspace is always go for the cheapest option.
For example when I ran my add I put $200 in an account (it works on a ppc model) The recommended bid price was $0.52 with a minimum of $0.23. The claim is that if you pay more, more people see the add. The thing is, who cares if more people see the ad or not. By paying the minimum perhaps less people see my add, but I got twice as many clicks for my money and thats what matters, not views but click throughs. I always recommend with myspace using the cheapest possible ppc option offered. Also look on different pages, depending on the page the price can get as cheap as $0.07 per click! You do the math, because its clicks you are paying for
)
With facebook its almost identical except for a few things. When making your ads, make them very professional looking. People on facebook won’t click on anything that appears to be “childish”. With facebook a great way to advertise is by creating a graphic with feedburners custom “headline animator”. Although you can’t use the exact cut and paste code (not allowed by facebook) you can still animate the graphic and have it statically link to your site.
Also NEVER EVER EVER use the PPI (pay per impression) option! It will cost you dearly (believe me I learned this the hard way).
For examples of the different ads I used, here is one I used for facebook:

and here is one I used for myspace

hopefully this shows exactly what I mean by the difference in ad styles.
If you wish, you can always add me to either myspace or facebook and we can talk more about this topic

welcome back Mr. Javo, I just want to tell you that no matter what we do, but it’s so hard to earn money from advertising with out having a high amount of traffic.
my advice is to enhance your page rank, because advertisers eyes is trying to find that!!

@Hesham
I get around 150 visitors to my blog a day at this point. The blog generates over $400 a month (this is only one of my blogs). High traffic volumes will make it so you can sell “anything” but if you pick products your visitors truly need, you sell ebooks of topics your readers should know about, and you recommend services your visitors would truly be interested in, then you don’t need volume.
As far as SEO advise goes, I fully agree. Nealy all my traffic is from seo, twitter, facebook, and myspace at this point. I know a lot about seo but I could write a book on the topic honestly so I aint going to start rambling. But if you need pointers or advise, don’t hesitate to ask.

You should give up TLA immediately. I have read several posts that stated google is stripping websites that sell links of their pagerank.
