As you could see in my preview post, Twitter is the most used service for micro-blogging. Many people, bloggers and not bloggers use it to share their personal links, photos and to update their statuses.
Some days ago was launched a service called Twittad which you can get paid for displaying ads on your twitter profile. It’s not something like Google Adsense or something else, it’s based on the backgrounds images. The advertiser choose a template to display the banner and the publisher get paid for displaying that image in its profile. Let’s see the details of this service and how it works:

What to do if you are a twitter user?
- Post Twitter account for advertisers to purchase.
- Select your duration & price.
- Wait for advertiser to purchase.
- Accept or Deny the proposed ad.
- If you accept, upload ad to the design section on your Twitter account.
- Notify TwittAd through your account maintenance page on TwittAd that the ad has been placed.
Payments are made via Paypal.
What to do if you are an advertiser?
- See the Examples Page for an idea on how to build your advertisement.
- Select “Buy Now” next to Twitter user’s background for ad placement.
- If Twitter user accepts pay TwittAd via paypal*.
- If Twitter user removes your ad before your time expires, you will receive credit from TwittAd for the time your ad was not served.
*You pay TwittAd a 5% service fee on the total purchase price. Minimum .99 cents.
Feedback

Also I think that advertisers have a disadvantage here, many people use twitter through services like Twitteriffic for Mac or Twitteroo for Windows to send and reply messages and usually, they do not visit user profiles ( at least I don’t ).
