The New Alexa Rankings

Written by Mr. Javo

Yesterday I noticed my I went from 80k to 230k in Alexa, how was that possible? Well, I went to alexa.com and effectively, something has changed.

But these new rankings are better than the old ones? I think nobody can answer that question, because for someone, “better” can be to have a higher rank to its site. But for the people who develop Alexa Rankings, the best is to give us the most accurate information.

Alexa Rankings

See image in its original size

They have optimized their code to provide to all internet community, the best rankings they can give. This don’t want to say that your old ranking was bad, it was just different. In my case, my ranking dropped from 80k to 230k, but I have not bad feelings about that. In fact, I have read that many rankings (specially of blogs) has decreased, but that is because their new algorithm.

For the new code, now they aggregate data from multiple sources, to give us a better indication of website popularity among the entire population of Internet users.

With this change, there are another changes you should know. For example, now you can only see the last 9 months data, but that’s for a mistake that they are working to fix in the next weeks. In their blog, they said they going to add new features in the coming weeks and months, but they keep them in secret.

What do you think about the new ranking? For me it is ok, you know I don’t really care about the rankings…

How Important It’s To Ping For Bloggers

Written by Mr. Javo

Pinging is a very important action that every blogger should do everyday. Refreshing the concept of ping of the latest post, ping is a computer network tool used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an IP network; it is also used to self test the network interface card of the computer. When you ping a service it means that you are sending it a signal and it will answer with a “pong”, taking a look on your blog for new content and update it on the service website.

As you can see, pinging is very important for us, the bloggers. With this tool you can refresh your content or feed across the web: search engines, technorati, social media networks and may be another service like web profiles, and you can use it to let other people know you’ve updated your blog. This gives you a big SEO advantage, as it ensures your content is seen immediately by search engines and indexed quickly. This can help your posts rank right away for less-competitive keywords.

How To Ping ?

Pinging your blog is a really easy task and you can do it in different ways. When I started blogging the past year, I used the service provided by Ping-o-Matic!. It let you ping your blog on many services like Technorati, Weblogs, FeedBurner, Blogrolling etc etc… You only need to put your blog URL and feed URL (optional), check the services which you want to ping and press the ping button. Then Ping-o-Matic will send pings to those services and your blog/feed content will be updated instantaneously on this sites!

That is a good way, but is boring because is it manual. For our luck, there is a way to do it automatically with wordpress ( I’m don’t know about blogger or other platforms but probably is something similar ). WordPress automatically notifies popular Update Services that you’ve updated your blog by sending a XML-RPC ping each time you create or update a post. In turn, Update Services process the ping and updates their proprietary indices with your update. Now people browsing sites like Technorati or Sphere can find your most recent posts!

WordPress makes easy the manual task of checking all your services in ping-o-matic by listing Ping-O-Matic’s server (rpc.pingomatic.com) by default. All you need to do is sit back and let it work for you!

Where to add or remove pings on wordpress?

By following this steps you will be able to add or remove pings to your wordpress blog:

  1. Log in to your WordPress weblog.
  2. Select “Options” from the top menu.
  3. WordPress options menu
  4. Select “Writing” from the sub-menu.WordPress writing option
  5. The last option on the page is “Update Services.” You will see a text box with probably the ping-o-matic ping by default "http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping", but you can add more pings if you want. WordPress Technorati ping

Is recommendable to ping each service separately instead using Ping-o-Matic (http://rpc.pingomatic.com/) ping. For example, I recommend pinging Technorati directly with every new post and update instead waiting for ping-o-matic to ping our blog. The following is a list of english blog pinging services:

http://api.feedster.com/ping
http://api.moreover.com/ping
http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://ping.amagle.com/

http://rpc.blogrolling.com/pinger/

http://rpc.newsgator.com/
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2
http://topicexchange.com/RPC2
http://www.blogdigger.com/RPC2
http://www.blogoole.com/ping/
http://www.blogoon.net/ping/
http://www.blogsnow.com/ping

http://www.popdex.com/addsite.php
http://www.snipsnap.org/RPC2
http://www.wasalive.com/ping/
http://www.weblogues.com/RPC/

If you use one of thus services, place the related link into your Update Services text box to ping automatically your blog on it  . If you are not using wordpress as blog platform, search in your panel of a pinging tool, I pretty sure it must be there, the only thing that you need to do is to add the url of your service and start to ping your blog across the web!.

Setting Up Permalinks On Wordpress For SEO Success

Written by Mr. Javo

Hello wordpress bloggers, yesterday I was talking about some great plugins for wordpress to improve your search engine optimization. Today I will tell you some tips about how you should set your wordpress to get success on search engines.

WordPress is considered one of best blogging platforms because it allows to perform Search Engine Optimization functions that most of the other blog platforms do not support. This includes elements like title tags, meta descriptions, related posts, optional excerpts, and other easy ways of making the Search Engines clearly aware of your content and what it is about.

Best format for Permalinks

The permalinks or permanent links are one of best ways to improve your seo. By activating them, you will have links permanently for every post you write, so if you have them deactivated just go to Options -> Permalinks in the admin panel and activate them. For this permanent url, you can set different formats: Date and name based, Numeric and Default. Also there is an option to customize this format, so you should check that and set the structure /%postname%/ and nothing else. This is best because your URLs to your articles should never change. Try to avoid using dates as subfolders, this ties your post to an specific date, limiting your ability to update old posts. Also, using dates as subfolders may result wrong in search engines because your post will be ranked with less weight and this will reduce the crawl rate. If you noticed, my blog has dates as subfolders. I changed the structure just like I recommend here but the problem is that wordpress change automatically every url’s post, so this mean that every oldest post linked in my newest posts won’t be find, redirecting you to the 404 error page. I’m thinking a solution for this, don’t worry  .

Use your keywords on slugs

Post slugs allow you to insert a topic or keyword phrase into your URL. For example, you can use www.yourdomain.com/blog-setup-basics.php instead of something like www.yourdomain.com/?p=140. If you don’t set a slug ( you can find this at the right of the posting screen ), wordpress automatically will set as slug the title of your post with a “-” between words. Try to avoid “the”, “or” and “and” in your posts slug, and use some of your blog keywords on it to get success in search engines indexing.

Enable Pinging

This is a little out of place but it’s good to mention it, what is a ping? pinging sends a signal to the Search Engines to come take a look at your blog every time new content is added or changes are made. This gives you a big SEO advantage, as it ensures your content is seen immediately by search engines and indexed quickly. This can help your posts rank right away for less-competitive keywords.

Following this tips, you will be optimizing your blog for search engines, google, yahoo, msn, ask etc etc…The implementation of your keywords on your permanent links is very very important and it’s something that you should have in mind when you are setting a post tittle and slug.

What’s A Backlink And How To Get It

Written by Mr. Javo

Everybody in the blogsphere talk about backlinks, and may be you can’t understand what are they talking about, but really the meaning of backlink is very simple. A backlink is an incoming link to a website, is any link received by a web page, directory, website, blogs etc etc… from another website. The Backlinks are also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links.

How are they useful to my website?

backlinks

The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of your blog or website. While more backlinks you have, more higher will be your popularity and ranking on search engines. A backlink represent like your signature, getting backlinks for everywhere means like if you were in all those sites, imagine what would you think if you visit 30 sites and you see my banner or link for example, you probably will think “this guy is everywhere, he’s popular!”

Search engines often use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the factors for determining that website’s search engine ranking. For example, Google’s PageRank algorithm uses backlinks to help determine a site’s rank. Therefore, websites often employ various techniques called search engine optimization to increase the number of backlinks pointing to their website.

Due to the abuse of using paid links to improve Google partially updated their Page Rank Tool to pin against paid links providers and the forward link of sites. This action resulted in a significant decrease in Page Rank of many websites worldwide. However although many believe that Google penalizes people for having unrelated backlinks to their blogs/websites, this has never been confirmed.

Some techniques to gain Backlinks

There are many paths to consider when building links to your site or blog such as link baiting or blogroll link swapping. There are many techniques to get backlinks but I will provide you only the most commons.

  • Submitting your blog in web directories and social networks: This is a good way to get some backlinks, submitting your blog in social networks, also in directories like BlogCatalog or Blogarama. You should search for directory sites that are indexed deep (with too many backlinks), directories that are specific to your niche/category and directories where your category is not too crowded (almost impossible). There is a list of 20 essential blog directories to submit your blog.
  • Commenting on Dofollow blogs: Dofollow blogs are blogs that give you a backlink just for commenting at them, doing this you will start to generate backlinks to your site as you have no idea, but don’t be a spammer!. If you don’t know what’s Dofollow, please check my guest post on JoeTech.
  • Exchanging links with other blogger: this is very common, you can see in the most of blogs a blogroll section. Try to visit and comment frequently in a blog and after some weeks, you could contact the blogger and ask for a link exchange.
  • Buying Text Links or Banners: plus text links, the banners also provide you a backlink. Before to buy, try to do an exchange…

My ideas disappeared  ! if you find another way to generate backlinks please comment it in this post!!

Backlink Tools

  • BackLinkWatch: this website is able to track every backlink to your site.
  • BackLinkSpot: this website can provide you blogs and websites with dofollow attributes, letting you to find where you can drop your link to drink some of the juice of search engines backlinks.
  • Technorati: with technorati you can track your backlinks!, they call them “reactions“. Following them, you will find the blogs which drop a backlink to you.

As you could notice, is very important for every website or blog to get backlinks. This way you will improve your rank on search engines and attract more traffic to your web, attracting the people attention  .

Written by Mr. Javo

Selling and buying links is something that every webmaster does, and now you can do it through the service that TNX.net provides.

What Is TNX.net and How it works?

TNX is a new text link broker on the scene, they help you to put your text links on up to 33 million web pages!. How they can do this?? TNX.net allows publishers to sell links from each page on their website, and for advertisers it allows to buy millions of links from other sites with few clicks, saving efforts, money and time, in just a few minutes you can have thousands of links from hundreds of high quality relevant sites linking to yours.

All that is possible with TNX credits. When you add a website to your account, you will be able to show advertiser links on your website and doing this, you earn credits which you can use for advertising, it’s simple and useful.

What you will find once you logged into the panel ?

Once you logged in, you will find at the right the tools for webmasters, advertisers and for the affiliate program.

Into the webmaster tools you will find a button to add a new site. You will need to fill some fields for this, and once you get approved ( it takes 1 ~ 2 days ) you will be able to add the TNX code to your site, which makes possible the system success. The code is quite simple of use, you only need to copy and paste a PHP, Perl or ASP code into your website and you will be showing ads and earning credits!. So as you can notice, the system is very easy to use.

Into the advertiser tools you will find some options to create campaigns and view your current campaigns. This two options are very powerful, specially to create a campaign: you can choose the number of Yahoo Backlinks and Google Pagerank sites where you want to your link appear on. The link price will be more higher while the pagerank of those sites increase, but the links can go from $0.00134 to $6.7.

And how do you pay that mount? by using credits! Current price of 1,000 (one thousand) TNX-points is $0.73 - 1.46 depending on the quantity you buy (basic price is $ 1.48), discounts start from $50.

Why To Use TNX ?

This system is quite new, indeed it’s beta. But no matter if it’s beta or not, This system is growing so fast, you can notice it by looking the statistics.

  • Actually they have 44188 users (daily growth:+0.41%)
  • Links in the system: 30132529
  • Links created in last hour: 233556
  • Number of pages indexed by TNX: 26067524

Imagine how faster is this system growing and all the benefits you can get with it. You can improve your google pagerank by using TNX, Google says: “In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages. ” and that’s exactly what TNX.net does, but they can guarantee nothing. They just offer a convenient tool that is used for mass non-reciprocal link placement on websites. Service is not intended to be used for PR growth, but to get more targeted traffic from websites and searchengines. Search engine results do not depend on the PR of your website, but on parameters of other websites that link to yours. So, results of your ad campaign depend on parameters of your campaign and your link anchors.

In general, being a publisher or advertiser you will always win, exploding your traffic as advertiser and earning cash with the tnx credits as publisher, and if you don’t want to sell those credits, you can use them for advertising in millions of sites, so how can you deny this offer??

Buy and sell text links with TNX.net and start to explode your traffic!

How To Be Indexed By Google In 24hrs

Written by Mr. Javo

One of most hard task once you create a blog, is get indexed by Google, Yahoo and others search engines, and you probably never heard about someone who get listed on Google in only 24hrs. Over the Internet exist million sites and forums with resources and tips to get indexed, but unfortunately the most of them are lie. Well not lie, but not the most efficient, in addition everybody thing about get listed in 24hrs is just impossible, but is really quite simple.

1 Step.-

Choose and set your keywords. Once again you have an idea about which your keywords are, you can use the freeware tools provided in http://www.goodkeywords.com/. Good Keywords is a simple, yet powerful Windows software to find the right keywords for your web pages, looking for the lesser used, managing your keywords, studying the competition keywords and more.

You can set your keywords using the < meta tag >. If you have not idea what I’m talking about, check my old post Meta Tags Code.

2 Step.-

This step is the most important because of it depend on your success or failure.

  • Go to Google and search for your URL ( i.e. www.yoursite.com, http://yoursite.com/ ). You will find something like this:

Your search - yourwebsite - did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
-Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
-Try different keywords.
-Try more general keywords.

The reason why you got nothing is because your website is pretty new and isn’t in the Google Index yet. If you are not listed by google, you can’t be ranked by them because your site doesn’t exist for them. Now, I’ll tell you something you may NOT to do to get indexed by google.

  • There is the big mistake of the most webmaster, add your URL at http://www.google.com/addurl.html. These is the Google Submission Form, and everybody think this is the key of success but really is not. If you submit your website with this form, you will get indexed by Google in at least 4 weeks, but this can take 6 weeks or even a little more, and thats too many time!. However, you should not submit your blog in any search engine, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista… So how can you get indexed by Google in 24hrs?
  • Go to Google and look for your keywords, your website tittle and tagline. Check the Pagerank of the websites listed on the top, and visit a couple of them. Once you get some websites with high rank ( 3 or higher is good ) look for the contact form, and ask them for a link. If you get linked from a website with good PR, you will get indexed very fast.

Tip: If you are migrating your blog, add your new URL in the blogroll of your old blog, this will help you to be indexed faster.

Tip: If your link stay in a high ranked website 1~3 days, you will get indexed automatically!

You can combine all those steps with other tips like guest commenting, using the techniques to improve your Alexa and Google rank, getting viral tags and applying all the resources provided on the web, just don’t forget to skip the Google submission form ;).
