Is Your Blog Having The Success That You Think?

Written by Mr. Javo

Hey bloggers, today I asked me if my blog is really having the success that I think. Many people in the life, think that they are having success with all what they do, although they don’t. Why they think that? Because they are afraid to fail on what they want and like to do. Of the same way, there are many bloggers who are not sure about their success, and they blind themselves for that fear to fail.

I don’t pretend to offend someone, on the contrary, I want to help you. So in this post, I will give you the tips to be successful with your blog. It is a lie that I can give you all the tips, but I will do my best to give you what I consider important to achieve the success.

Meet Your Competitors

Success

When you manage a blog, you need to meet your competitors to try to do it best than they. Sorry me, I don’t know what I wrote, I said competitors? Certainly, I’m using a bad term, what competitors? Don’t think that blogging is about a race that must be won. I tried to say, that you need to meet who are around you writing about the same topics than you. Meeting the other bloggers who have the same interest like you, is the first step to be successful.

Socialize With “Your Competitors”

Once you know who in the blogosphere are blogging about your blog’s niche, you need to socialize with them. A big common mistake is to think that they are your enemies. Error! Think again, remember that the blogosphere is a huge community. You can’t pretend to be successful if you don’t socialize with the people around you. Commenting on related blogs and having contact with the fellow bloggers, by chat, phone or personally, is a great way to start to be successful. You can have a great content on your blog, but if you are not friend of the surrounding bloggers, you are lost.

Analyzing Your Statistics

In the last week, I talk about How To Measure Your Blog’s Success, where I talked about how to interpret your statistics. The point of this post is not that, is not focused on the numbers. The numbers are important, that is truth, but you can’t think that you are having success if you have pagerank 5, because that does mean nothing.

Forget the statistics, all these numbers that every blogger (including me) check everyday. Don’t worry for the statistics and chill out because here, what really matters is if your content is being read. You can have pagerank 5 because you got thousand backlinks through TNX, but these number worth nothing if 20 persons read your blog daily.

What I Recommend

Based on the paragraphs above, I can tell you that you should not worry at all for the statistics. Blogging is all about be social, you need to focus primordially on meeting the people around you and be their friend. This way, your blog will have the success, even more than you want. Remember what I said about the blogosphere, it is pure social! If you don’t have contacts, you will achieve nothing.

  1. Yes, that’s right you have to socialize with your fellow in the same niche.. I don’t want to use the term “competitors” because for me they are potential partners or clients in the future..

  6. Hi there! This is a great site! Joliber mentioned this to me and i took time to read and re-read some of your entries. I must admit your posts are very informative. I agree with you, we shoudn’t focus more in monetizing our blogs . Rather, develop and improve our social networks by finding our own niche in the blogosphere. I am priding myself in actually finding real friends from here and I consider them my partners in achieving whatever aspirations I have in blogging.

  7. Hahaha! My niche (personal blogger-designer) is quite hard to find on social networks. They evolved from the generation of teenaged web designer wannabes from the late 90s/early 2000s so the network is closed. We mainly survive by commenting on each others’ sites. But we have become a dying breed, that’s why I’ve joined social networks to expand my niche.

I’m also active at social networks because I will be starting a web project… BlogCatalog has proved to become useful! But that’s a blog post’s worth of explanation. :D

  9. Thanks for the welcome back msg. You have articulated some very good points about increasing blog popularity which to me essentially means increasing page rankings and all. I think your observations are right to the core. More regular readers I believe are more important than any stat a blog could have.
    Cheers!
